al-broilers BROILER REPORT FOR WEEK ENDING: 12/31/2005 The Alabama Agricultural Statistics Service in Montgomery conducts a weekly survey of the State's broiler hatcheries. For more information contact us at 1-800-832-4181. The results of this survey follow: Eggs set were 31.1 million, a 1 percent decrease from the previous week. Chicks hatched were 26.0 million, including 5.5 million placed in other states, used for breeder replacements, or destroyed. The hatching rate for the state was 83 percent. Chicks placed were 21.2 million, a 1 percent decrease from the previous week. Placements included 672,685 chicks shipped into Alabama from other states.
